Reporter's Diary: Starry-eyed journo gets too close for heroine’s comfort
These days, everyone likes to take a selfie with a film star and sometimes fans go overboard and get too close for comfort.
Chennai
To avoid such embarrassment, events involving stars are usually held in venues closed for the public only to protect celebrities from selfie-obsessed fans, while members of the media are generally expected to exercise more restraint.
At a recent event which was well attended by Kollywood starlets, an online media reporter wanted to meet a particular star and take a selfie with her. The journo was not just smitten by the starlet, but was also clearly bitten by the FB bug, and wanted selfies. For the first selfie, the star gladly obliged with a smile and moved on. But the man wanted more and soon the selfie-session graduated into a duet of sorts.
The man tried to pull the actress closer, much to her discomfort, but luckily, before things got too tangled, the star’s manager intervened and asked him to move away. But the persistent scribe refused to budge and insisted it was his right to take a selfie.
Eventually, he had to be roughed up and asked to leave. Even as the lady graciously continued to interact with other guests, she could be seen visibly recoiling from anyone who went to her with a selfie request.
