800 kilogram of sea cucumbers seized
More than 800 kg of sea cucumbers were recovered from a van at Vedalai village near Rameshwaram and two persons were arrested for smuggling them.

Based on a tip-off, sleuths attached to Forest Department were carrying out inspection near the sea shore at Vedalai and during the search operations they spotted a jeep. On seeing the officials, the jeep sped away in the opposite direction.
The forest officials gave a chase and caught the jeep. When the jeep was checked there were 800 kg of sea cucumbers loaded in it. Immediately the sea cucumbers were seized and the two persons, Mustaq and Mohammed, were arrested.Â
