40-year-old assaulted with weapons, four held

Police said the youths attacked Manivannan, a resident of Tsunami Quarters, when he questioned the youth about making fun of his son Subbu. They had allegedly made fun of Subbu who later went to his father and complained about it. Angered at the way his son was humiliated, Manivannan took Subbu to the group and questioned them. It resulted in a verbal duel which later became physical and the youths assaulted Manivannan with knives and wooden logs.

Manivannan suffered serious injuries and had to be admitted to the Stanley Medical College. 

Based on his complaint police arrested B John alias Johnson (23), B Prasad (22), Thoth alias N Vinod (22) and G Vineeth (22). They were later produced before the magistrate court and were remanded to judicial custody. 

Meanwhile, in Koyambedu CMBT police on Wednesday arrested a history sheeter for stealing a two wheeler from a residential neighbourhood.

Police arrested S Jayakumar (22), a resident of New Colony, Koyambedu and recovered the two wheeler from him.

Jayakumar took away the Honda Activa bike of P Jayakumar, a resident of Anna Nagar, who had parked it near the Omni Bus Stand on Wednesday afternoon after locking the vehicle. He later went inside the bus stand for some work and when he returned he found the bike missing. He then lodged a complaint with the Koyambedu CMBT police.

Police personel rushed to the spot and collected footage from CCTV cameras installed near the scene of crime. Based on the footage, the cops identified and picked up the accused near Rohini Theatre. The stolen two-wheeler was recovered from the accused after which he was remanded to judicial custody.
