Junior Correspondent: It’s really getting trashy here
DTNext invites our young readers to become junior correspondents. If you see a violation of civic rules in your neighbourhood, send us the write-up with a picture. Make sure it is accompanied by your name, age, photograph and address.
Chennai
I live in Little Mount and like every other lane in the city, we too have a dustbin. It is cleared every morning but the garbage piles up by late afternoon. By the time I am back from school, the garbage begins to overflow. By the evening the area around the dustbin looks like a dump yard.
People are seen throwing the garbage mindlessly on the road. A walk around the neighborhood and I found that many streets face similar problems.
Also, there are many empty spaces in my locality where people dump the garbage. People are seen attending to nature’s call there. Even stray dogs drag food items from the vacant spot onto the road. These places raise a stink.
As there are not many playgrounds in the city, vacant spaces are a boon for children. Alas we are not able to make use of it because of the cleanliness issue. I want the dustbin to be cleared more than once a day. I also wish people to be more cautious while disposing garbage.
This write-up was given by 13 year old Syed Shahid Ilhan.
