Suicide bid by Kovai HM cadre fearing arrest

The functionary N. Anandha Kumar (31) of Podanur was the Kurichi Town Secretary of the party. According to the police, a couple of days ago someone told Anandha Kumar that he would also be arrested by the police. He shared it with a few functionaries on Sunday and was reportedly upset. Police said that on Monday morning he doused himself with kerosene in his house and set it ablaze. 

His brother rescued and took him to the Coimbatore medical college hospital, where he was getting treated in the burns ward. The police said that with 70 per cent burns and that his condition was critical. A judicial magistrate also recorded the statement of Anandha Kumar.
