Order on ST quota in LB polls reserved
The High Court has reserved its order on a plea moved by DMK seeking a direction to conduct the ensuing local body polls by providing adequate reservation to Scheduled Tribes as mandated in the Constitution.

Following heated arguments for a second day on Thursday between the counsel appearing for DMK and the Advocate General, Justice Kribukaran, reserved orders which is expected to be delivered either on Friday or Monday.Â
DMK’s counsel P Wilson contended that despite the Constitution making reservation for Scheduled Tribes, both in panchayats and municipalities as mandatory, the state government had ignored it.Â
The advocate general countered his charge saying that the ratio of seats reserved for STs had been done based on the State population.
