Slain Sasikumar’s wife attempts suicide, safe
Unable to come to terms with her husband’s murder, Yamuna, wife of slain Coimbatore Hindu Munnani spokesperson Sasikumar, on Thursday attempted suicide by consuming cow dung powder.
Coimbatore
Yamuna was heartbroken since Sasikumar’s death and had hardly spoken a word to friends and relatives. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Yamuna who visited the toilet around 6 am did not come out for more than an hour. As relatives grew suspicious, they broke open the door and found her lying unconscious with a packet cow dung powder in her hands.
She was rushed to a private hospital in Goundampalayam, where she was admitted in the intensive care. Hearing about the suicide attempt, Hindu Munnani cadre gathered at the hospital leading to tension in the area. Yamuna’s kin said hers was a love marriage and the couple were very close.
But Yamuna along with Sasikumar’s father Chinnasamy and brothers Sudhakar and Dhanasekar had taken part in the seventh day ritual on Wednesday. She had resorted to this extreme step only the next day.
Sasikumar was hacked to death by a four-member gang on September 22. While BJP leaders alleged that withdrawal of police protection given to him paved way for the murder, the case was recently transferred to the CB-CID.
