Police said Sekar (60), was working at a mutton stall owned by Nagoor Meeran on Saturday, when a youth who came to the shop picked up a wordy duel with him.Â
Suddenly the youth, who was later identified as R. Arun (23), a resident of Perumal Koil Street, Manali, picked up a wooden log and hit Sekar on his jaw and fled the scene immediately.Â
Sekar fell down in the impact, hit his head on a stone and became  unconscious. The shop owner Nagoor Meeran, rushed Sekar to the Stanley Medical College hospital. However, Sekar did not respond to treatment and died at the hospital on Sunday.Â
Nagoor Meeran had lodged a complaint with the Manali police station against Arun. But following the death of Sekar, police registered a murder case and launched a hunt for the accused.Â
They later arrested Arun, who was working as a milk man. Police said Arun used to often visit Nagoor Meeran’s shop and pick up fight with the deceased Sekar. He was later produced at the magistrate court and remanded to judicial custody.
