    IIT-M director to serve a second term

    The incumbent Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, has been reappointed to serve a second term of five years, as the head of the Institute.

    An alumnus of IIT Madras and University of California, Santa Barbara, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi joined the Institute as a faculty member in the Electrical Engineering Department in the year 1986 and served at various key positions, including that of Dean (Planning), before taking over as the Director of the Institute in September 2011. 

    Talking about his future plans, Prof. Ramamurthi said in a press release issued on Friday “In addition to meeting or exceeding our targets of the ‘IIT Madras Strategic Plan 2020’, we will strive to build an institute that is the go-to place for students and faculty members who wish to work together to address national and global  technological challenges, an institute whose badge every alumnus and staff member is proud to wear.”
