CCTV in Pachaiyappa's to track students on campus
In order to prevent student clashes on campus and maintain discipline among students, the Pachaiyappa's College, here has decided to install CCTV cameras to monitor students.

It has also asked the disciplinary committee members to take action against latecomers. Those who arrive after 9.30 am will not be permitted to enter the college. The measures are a fall- out of the clash among students on Thursday. College authorities convened a council meeting on Friday to discuss the issue and came up with an action plan to prevent such incidents. Dr S Kaliraj, Principal of the college said the staff would also monitor the students on campus. “We will also strengthen the disciplinary committee from the existing 15 to 20 members by adding few more members.
Apart from installing CCTV cameras across the campus, we will also put up a public address system,” he said. With regard to the undergraduate students involved in Thursday’s incident, Kaliraj said that the suspension of 64 students would continue till September 27 and an enquiry would be conducted on September 28 and 29, and parents of these students would also be asked to participate. The six students who were arrested by the police have been suspended for 15 days. "If we are satisfied that there is no mistake on the part of the students, we will revoke their suspension,” he said. When askd about the proposal for CCTV cameras, Kaushik (name changed), a PG student at the institution, welcomed the new measure as “a good idea as such quarrels will not happen again.”
