Briefing mediapersons after an emergent meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Minister declined to comment whether the meeting took up the Cauvery issue. He said any decision on the issue would be taken only after the meeting of floor leaders scheduled for Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, BJP decided to boycott the meeting. Chikmagalur district, BJP State President BS Yeddyurappa said that it was meaningless to participate in the all party meeting as the government had failed to abide by the decision of the previous meeting to stop release of water. “If 6,000 cusec water is released to Tamil Nadu as per the direction of Supreme Court, Karnataka will not have water even for drinking purpose,” he added.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court directed the Centre to constitute within four weeks the Cauvery Water Management Board as directed by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in its award. It also directed the Karnataka government to release 6,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu till September 27.
