Bureau pulling: Property still untraced, 2 arrested
The Mylapore police on Monday arrested two accused in the bureau pulling case. They seized two knives and one iron pipe from the culprits. However, police have not recorded any recovery of the stolen property.

A police team from Mylapore intercepted an auto, which tried to sped away when signalled to stop, after a brief chase the police picked up Bala alias Balasubramanian (26), a resident of PNK Garden, Mylapore and Rajkumar alias Rahul (24), a resident of 3rd Street, Ramakrishnapuram, Mylpore. One more person in the auto managed to escape.Â
Police said that the gang had struck at the house of Jambuka Lakshmi in Mylapore on Saturday and looted 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 1 kg of silver. Initial reports had suggested that 4 kg silver articles were stolen from the bureau. The arrested, however, had no history of burglary using this modus operando.Â
Police said Bala alias Balasubramaniam had two attempt to murder cases and robbery cases booked against him.Â
Police sources, however, told DTNext that only those who have expertise in bureau pulling could do such a burglary. Police have launched a hunt for the absconding person.Â
