Lawyer threatens college girl, arrested

Sources said, Punithavathy (name changed), a resident of Ram Nagar and a post graduate student of a college at Madurai, was regularly followed by Thirunavukarasu, a lawyer by profession and a resident of the same locality. Police claimed that he had proposed his love to the girl several times, however the latter rejected. However, he had been repeatedly harassing her to marry him. As the torture by the lawyer continued, the girl complained to her uncle who rebuked Thirunavukarasu for stalking her. 

Angered by the warning of Krishnamoorthy, the lawyer on Wednesday had approached the girl and had picked up an altercation with the girl for informing to her uncle. He had also issued death threat to her if she took up the issue further with any of her family members. 

Following the incident, Punithavathy lodged a complaint with K Pudhur police. Police carried out an investigation and booked a case under Tamil Nadu Prohibition Of Women Harassment Act against Thirunavukarasu, who was later arrested.
