New Woodlands Hotel targeted; 4 held

According to police, about 15 persons on two-wheelers came to the hotel on Radhakrishnan Salai around 3.30 am on Monday. As the watchman tried to stop them from entering the premises, they attacked him first. 

After they gained entry, the assailants reportedly went on a rampage, breaking glass windows and damaging furniture of all the three restaurants inside the complex. 

The newly opened ice cream parlour and the hotel reception lobby were ransacked in the incident. The miscreants also hurled three petrol bombs inside, but fortunately none of them exploded. 

Police said had they lit the bombs, the entire building could have been gutted in no time. The gang allegedly left behind some posters condemning the Kannadigas over the Cauvery dispute and reportedly warned against targeting Tamilians in Karnataka. 

Mylapore police rushed to the spot on information and launched a search for the culprits. Later, they arrested M Sasikumar (30) of Mylapore, K Vasudevan (30), S Vignesh (24) and S Dinesh (24), all hailing from Royapettah. Police said all the arrested members were members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam. A hunt is on to identify the remaining accused.
