AIFUCTO calls inputs in draft policy ‘negative’
Calling some aspects in the MHRD’s inputs for Draft National Education Policy 2016 as ‘negative’ the All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO) has objected the inclusion of those inputs.

The organisation has asked its members to go on a mass casual leave on October 5 urging MHRD to remove the negative points in the new education policy and pay review committee.
Prof Arun Kumar, general secretary of AIFUCTO, said that the Union Human Resource Development Ministry had not taken minority rights into consideration while preparing “some inputs for Draft National Education Policy 2016.”
“We have already sent our suggestions to MHRD. We have urged the Union government not to corporatize education, increase allocation of 10 per cent from Gross domestic product (GDP) for education sector. Our association has also asked the Centre not to curb democratic rights of students and faculty, besides maintaining autonomy of the higher education institutions,” he said.
Pointing out that several faculty posts remain vacant in numerous universities in the country, the AIFUCTO general secretary said that the union government should fill all vacant posts at the earliest.
Prof Kumar said that rather than bringing in a uniform syllabus for universities and colleges across the country, individual universities in the states should have their own syllabi.
