Students studying in class X and XII during the year 2016-17 will be provided with ‘sundal’ since they are expected to stay back for special classes between 4 and 6 pm. Six varieties of healthy snacks will be given to 13,274 students.
The mayor also thanked Chief Minister J Jayalaithaa, and said, “She is a pillar of support to implement such schemes in the corporation.”
Saidai Duraisamy charted 207 works as either implemented or completed.
“Most schemes are based on social welfare, administrative reforms and basic infrastructure. As far as social welfare scheme is concerned, we have established more Amma canteens to serve the people. Similarly, Amma drinking water is another hit,” the Mayor said and added that science laboratories in eight corporation schools were established for the first time.
As the term of the Counil comes to an end, the members met for the last time on Thursday in full strength.
