Minister assures drainage for Palani

Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programmes S P Velumani said on Friday that necessary steps were being taken for implementing a proper underground drainage system in Palani.

Replying to a question raised by I P Senthil Kumar, MLA of DMK, Palani constituency, the minister gave this assurance. To another question, forest minister Dindigul C Srinivasan assured that measures would be in place to reduce crop damage caused by wild animals in Dindigul and Kodaikanal reserve forests. 

“I will pay special attention to this issue and forest officials are keen to inspect the places to construct electric fences at vantage points,” he said. He added that Dindigul was his constituency and he would would take up this issue. He demanded a multi-specialty hospital in Kodaikanal which attracted a growing number of tourists. Replying to this question, Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar said the government was keen on improving the health sector and his demand would be taken into consideration. 

Virugambakkam MLA Virugai V N Ravi, put forth some demands including the setting up of an Amma clinic and construction of rampart walls along the Adyar river and extension of roads in his constituency. Attacking the DMK regime, Ravi said that there was rampant corruption in the civic bodies in the State. Meanwhile, when the MLA used the word ‘minority’ DMK, there was a mild commotion among DMK MLAs, after which Speaker called M K Stalin, Leader of Opposition, who said “DMK MLAs would not worry about the use of the term ‘minority government.’ Then, the MLA continued his speech.
