Sanjay Arora, IPS, ADGP, who was the chief guest for the event, flagged off the rally from Kannagi statue in Marina Beach. The rally ended at Queen Marry’s College where the participants were distributed certificates and tree saplings. Speaking at the event, Vivekh said, global warming was alone not the reason why people are urged to plant trees.

If every individual plants and protects one tree, it will save the globe for several generations to come,” he said. Having planted 27,35,000 trees as part of his Green Kalam initiative, Vivekh said he was determined to complete the task given to him by Abdul Kalam of planting one crore trees. Director of Education Sekar, Queen Marry’s College Principal Raja Sulochana, National Cadet Corps coordinator Baskar, Vasantha Bhavan Ravi, artist A P Sreethar and Tejaswani Vivekh were among the other guests present on the occasion.
