Puducherry Lt Governor Kiren Bedi on Sunday ordered the officials to introduce pre-paid autorickshaw system in Puducherry.

Puducherry
As part of her project to make Puducherry prosperous and clean, she also visited the Puducherry railway station. Kiren Bedi who went round the platform, passengers’ waiting room and tourist information centre was furious to see no one at the tourist information centre including guides. She then directed the railway authorities to take several steps for the benefit of passengers.Â
When she came out of the railway station, a few passengers complained of auto drivers collecting exorbitant fare and Kiren Bedi advised them not to indulge in such acts. When the autorickshaw drivers informed her that their business was getting affected as two-wheelers were being given for rent, she said that no such excuse could be given, and the administration was planning to introduce the pre-paid auto system here and directed the officials to take immediate steps.Â
She also directed the officials to take steps to ensure that a few buses of the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation ply from the railway station to different areas of Puducherry and some tourist destinations during the arrival time of trains. She also asked railway officials to give a list of their requirements to be taken up at the next official meeting.  Later, the Lt Governor visited the Iyarkkai Velan mai Maiyyam (Natural Agricultural Centre) at Arasur and directed the officials to make it function properly since the segregated garbage  will be recycled there from Monday.
