Stalin said that the entire nation was waiting to see the DMK patriarch (M Karunanidhi) to be sworn in as the Chief minister of Tamil Nadu for the record sixth time but that did not happen. “We have not lost the spirit yet, but couldn’t help but wonder how AIADMK retained the power,” Stalin said.

Recalling that the DMK was formed by Anna (C Annadurai) for the welfare of the working class, farmers, scheduled castes and tribes and people living below the poverty line, he said the party was always committed to uplifting of these people.

“Now we (DMK) are marching past under the leadership of Kalaignar. We are holding the record of being a big opposition party now which either AIADMK or Congress who ruled the state before had,” Stalin said. He also expressed hope that the truth behind the containers detained with 570 cr would be out in a couple of months. Earlier, around 100 DMDK members led by the Thanjavur union secretary joined DMK in the presence of Stalin.
