In the third incident within a week, four more fishermen from Rameswaram were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday.

Abdul Kabir, Murugan, Abdul Tahir and Arokiyam were said to be fishing at nine nautical miles west of Delft Island, when Sri Lankan Coast Guard assisted by Sri Lankan Navy arrested them and took the trawler along with them. The boat numbered TN 10 MM 129 belongs to Karunakaran. The arrested were taken to Kankesanthurai Port and handed over to Jaffna Fisheries Department. Within a week since the 45-day ban period ended, 15 fishermen have been arrested so far while three mechanised boats have been confiscated. Arulandham, founder of Alliance for Releasing Innocent Fishermen, claimed that more than 90 Indian fishermen’s boats are with Sri Lankan Navy.
