According to sources, Narayanasamy, who is camping in New Delhi, had held talks with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on the composition of his ministry. He met party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. Narayanasamy had submitted the list of his Cabinet colleagues to her and held discussions. Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam who is aspiring for a ministerial berth met the Congress president after Narayanasamy. PCC president A Namasivayam would also meet her.
When newsmen contacted Narayanasamy over phone, he said that all efforts were being made to hold the swearing-in function on June 6 and, if not, it would be on June 8.
It may be noted that even though the Congress won 15 seats and its ally DMK two in the 30-member territorial assembly, Narayanasamy, a non-member of the assembly, deciding to contest for the Chief Ministership had delayed the selection of the Congress Legislature Party Leader (CLP) after the assembly results were out. After selecting Narayanasamy as the CLP leader, things were further delayed because more aspirants were staking claim for ministerial berths.
Meanwhile, according to a release from the office of Narayanasamy here, he met President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rastrapathi Bhawan on Wednesday and held talks with him.
