Suriya, face of EC’s campaign, won’t be voting this time!
Actor Suriya, the face of Election Commission’s #TN100percent campaign, will not be voting on May 16 as he’s not in the city. The cine star issued a public apology, adding that he regrets missing a chance to exercise his democratic right.

Chennai
In an ironic twist, actor Suriya, whose dubsmash video calling out to all the people of Tamil Nadu to vote, will be in the US on Poll Day. The actor confirmed his absence and also tendered an apology.
“For the first time ever, I will be missing my chance to vote. I am regretful that I won’t be able to exercise my democratic right. I had planned to reach Chennai on the day before voting day. But due to an unexpected delay, I am unable to carry out my planned schedule. I tried to explore every option including either voting through postal ballot or through the internet. However, there is no legal option available. I have never missed my voting opportunity in the past,” said the actor.
Suriya added, “I campaigned for 100 per cent polling on May 16, where I asked all to exercise their democratic right. I once again tender my apology to all to accept my inability to vote. I hope everybody who loves me will understand.” According to sources, the actor will return to Chennai at the end of the month.
