Raji came to the house on Monday afternoon and left the house after spending about 15 minutes. A police officer had taken down her address and when the investigation team reached the house, they went to her house and later picked her up for questioning.

Rohini’s body was cremated at Besant Nagar crematorium on Monday evening after it was handed over to the relatives following post-mortem.

Three special teams have been formed to probe the murder of the doctor who was found dead at the lawn with her limbs tied and head smashed with a heavy object on Sunday morning.

Her jewellery was intact but police suspect the property documents that she had kept inside the bureau were could be taken away.

They are investigating the real estate connection behind the murder. According to sources, Rohini used to have a
dispute with owners of a petrol bunk, located next to her compound, after her well water got contaminated due to oil incursion. The bunk was, however, later closed down.

Police suspect three persons could have committed the murder when Rohini was
walking in her lawn on Sunday night. Her 90-year-old mother Subadra Nair stays on the ground floor of the independent bungalow and Rohini used to sleep on the first floor. The family had two dogs but both of them are very friendly even with strangers.

Rohini’s only daughter Reshmi Nanditha, a software professional, lives with her partner Mahesh at Tiruvanmiyur. Egmore has now become the most unsafe place for the elderly people living alone. Three murders have taken place in recent times. First, Dr. Emma Gonsalvez (82) was murdered at her home in Egmore in June, 2015. Sharadha Nair (72), who was staying with her granddaughter was murdered at her apartment at Egmore on March 3, this year.

Concerns have already been raised against officials involved in this investigation as no breakthrough has been achieved in the Sharadha murder case yet.
