Tamilisai, who is contesting from the Virugambakkam Assembly constituency in Chennai city, has received the threat in her mobile phone at around 9 pm last night. She said, since she was campaigning, she had noticed the SMS only around 11 pm last night.

The SMS warned her of dire consequences if she did not withdraw from the contest on the last date for withdrawals on Monday. “If you did not withdraw from the contest, you will be killed by ramming a lorry into your car. Asserting she would not be cowed by such threats, she urged the Election Commission (EC) to take action against the culprit for sending the threatening SMS.”

“Even if other political leaders receive such threats, the EC should take stringent action against those issuing such threats,” she added. She observed that she did not suspect any individual in this regard.
