DMK may swap two seats with Congress
The DMK high command replaced its candidate for Sholavandan (Reserved) constituency in Madurai late Sunday.

Chennai
The party has replaced Dr Sripriya Thenmozhi with Bhavani. Sunday’s was the second change in the candidates list after the party replaced its Orathanadu and Arakkonam candidates late Saturday.  Â
The DMK is actively considering the exchange of one or two seats with the Congress. It is reliably learnt that DMK might approach Congress to forego a seat in Tirupur or Thanjavur district. Sources told DT Next that DMK leadership is keen on fielding a candidate in Pattukottai, which has been allotted to the Congress.
Kangeyam in Tirupur district may also have attracted DMK’s attention. Even Congress insiders said DMK might give up a seat in Tirupur city for Kangeyam.Â
Congress sources even tipped the name of probable DMK candidate for Kangeyam, former highway minister MP Saminathan who has been allotted Tirupur North constituency. If sources are to be believed, Saminathan may have had friendly negotiations with local Congress functionaries already. There is little to guess on the choice of seat DMK might want to give up after that.Â
DMK sources said that even if they swap seats, DMK would allot a seat the Congress would consider winnable and they would not let the seat exchange cause any acrimony between the two parties.
