CPI announces list, 7 MLAs to seek re-election
Communist Party of India (CPI) today announced the list of 25 candidates by giving seats to seven of the nine sitting members for the May 16 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu

While six of them would seek re-election from the same seat from where they won as part of the AIADMK-led alliance in 2011, the constituency of one of the candidates was changed.
The sitting MLAs, who would be seeking re-election were M Arumugham (Avinashi, he contested in 2011 from Vaalparai), S Gunasekaran (Sivaganga), K Ulaganathan (Thiruthuraipoondi), N Nanjappan (Pennagaram), T Ramchandran (Thali), P L Sundaram (Bhavanisagar), and Lingamuthu from Gudiyatham.
The CPI would be facing the elections under the mega  DMDK-People's Welfare Front (PWF)-Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) alliance.
