Here is a snapshot of past winners and runner-up of five Assembly constituencies in Chennai district

District details
The sex ratio of the capital district of the state was at 989 and the literacy rate at 90.18 per cent as per 2011 census. About 1,510 out of 3,236 polling booths across the 16 constituencies in the district had been declared vulnerable to electoral offence. In total, 257 men and 17 women candidates were in the election fray in the district. Maximum number of contestants were in Dr R K Nagar constituency — 31. Thousand Lights and Mylapore witnessed three women candidates each. Out of 3,407 49(O) registered in the district, minimum was at Villivakkam (15) and maximum at Saidapet (360). Chennai district topped the list of number of 49 (O) polled with 3,407. AIADMK won 11 won seats, while DMDK and DMK won two and CPM won one seat.
11. Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar
Total No of voters: 1,95,179
Votes Polled: 1, 41, 904
Polling percentage: 72.72%
Winner: Vetriivel P (AIADMK)
Runner-up: Sekarbabu P K (DMK)
Margin:Â 31,255Â votes
Out of 31 candidates, 25 were IND candidates in 2011; Out of 219 polling stations in the constituency, 125 were declared Critical Booths in 2011. An ADMK fort with number of consecutive wins from 2001 to 2015. Winning parties: AIADMK (2015), AIADMK (2011), AIADMK (2006), ADMK (2001), DMK (1996), ADK (1991) and DMK (1989).
RK Nagar By-poll
Total No of voters: 2,43,301
Votes polled: 1,81,420
Polling percentage: 74.56% Â
Winner: J Jayalalithaa (AIADMK)
Runner-up: Mahendran C (CPI)
Margin: 1,50,722 votes
After Jayalalithaa’s acquittal in the disproportionate assets case, Vetriivel resigned the MLA post and gave way to former CM to contest here. Jayalalithaa secured a record 88.43 % votes.
12. Perambur
Total No of voters: 2,32,344
Votes polled: 1,62,026
Polling percentage: 69.80%
Winner: Soundararajan A (CPM)
Runner-up: N R Dhanapalan (DMK)
Margin: 17,423 votes
Out of 230 polling stations here during 2011 elections, 112 were critical booths. Once a DMK fort became CPM’s fort in recent three elections. DMK had consecutively won here 6 times, from 1967 to 1989. CPM has won here in the 2001, 2006 and 2011 elections. Winning parties: CPM (2011), CPM (2006), CPM (2001), DMK (1996), AIADMK (1991), DMK (1989, 1984 and 1980).
13. Kolathur
Total No of voters: 2,08,018
Votes polled: 1,42,028
Polling percentage: 68.47%
Winner: Stalin M K (DMK)
Runner-up: Saidai Sa Duraisamy (AIADMK)
Margin: 2,734 votes
21 IND candidates contested in 2011 election. 57 were declared Critical Booths out of 203 polling stations in the constituency during 2011. A tight contest between DMK treasurer Stalin and present Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy (AIADMK) seen here in 2011 election. Kolathur constituency was newly formed, from carving out of Purasawalkam and Villivakkam assembly segments in 2008. Winning Party: DMK (2011).
14. Villivakkam
Total No of voters: 1,93,221
Votes polled:Â 1,30,828
Polling percentage: 67.71%
Winner: Prabhakar JCD (AIADMK)
Runner-up: Anbazhagan K (DMK)
Margin: 10,782 votes
The electorate was at 9.41 lakh during the 2006 Assembly election and after the delimitation, Villvakkam has only 1.93 lakh voters. J C D Prabakar of AIADMK won the 2011 election after his 1980 election win. Winning parties: AIADMK (2011), DMK (2006), DMK (2001), TMC (1996), INC (1991), CPM (1989) and CPM (1984).
15. Thiru Vi Ka Nagar (SC)
Total No of voters: 1,81,243
Votes polled: 1,23,807
Polling percentage: 68.35% Â
Winner: Neelakandan V (AIADMK)
Runner-up: Dr C Natesan (INC)
Margin: 29,341Â votes
A newly formed constituency. Out of 174 Polling stations here, 40 were Critical Booths during 2011. Winning Party: AIADMK (2011).
