    Restore booth or won’t vote: Villagers

    The electorate of K Ramarajapuram village coming under Vadipatti taluk in Madurai district have threatened to boycott the Assembly election on May 16 to protest the shifting of polling booth from their village to a neighbouring hamlet.

    The village with a population of 600 people, including 370 voters, has decided to boycott the poll. A decision to this effect was unanimously taken at a meeting of people of all communities in the village. 

    The residents claimed that they had been exercising their franchise in a polling booth at K Ramarajapuram union primary school, till 2011. The polling booth was shifted to a government high school at Kachaikatti hamlet that is seven km away from K Ramarajapuram during the last Lok Sabha election.
