An awareness campaign held at the premises of the Everwin Matric Higher Secondary School saw the school students forming an outline of the Tamil Nadu state within which a sand sculpture of a giant Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), spreading an area of 3,000 sq ft was made. Launching the awareness campaign titled ‘My Street, My Mission’, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni presented badges and identity cards to the students appointing them as neighbourhood ambassadors to create more awareness among the people in the locality on the need for compulsory voting on the polling day.Â
School Senior Principal-cum-Correspondent B Purushothaman and Principal Kalaiarasi said about 500 students of Class 8, 9 and 11 were appointed as ‘neighbourhood ambassadors’ with the motto ‘I will campaign in my street for 100 per cent voting’. To spread the message for ensuring 100 per cent voting, Lakhoni also presented badges to 5,000 students with the slogan that goes, ‘My entire family will vote’. Â
The students will spread the message by wearing it whenever they venture out of the school or go shopping or on tour. Lakhoni lauded the school management and its students for this awareness programme and said the EC has been taking all steps to ensure 100 per cent voting in the polls.
