Big B walks the ramp with leading ladies for charity

It was an evening filled with a sense of purpose as the wellknown faces from the city came together at Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park for a jewellery auction, to demonstrate an undying spirit of humanity that was exhibited during the Chennai floods. A charity event to raise funds for the rehabilitation of flood victims, the event was aptly titled ‘Heart of Gold’.

It was supported by top jewellers from across the country like Nirav Modi, Prince Jewellery, Jaipur Gems, Ahalya, Viswa & Devji, Nathella, NAC, GRT, Chennai Diamonds, Mehta Jewellery, Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, Caratlane, Kirtilals, Ahalya, P. Modi and Ziva Jewellers, who came forward and donated jewellery, that was then auctioned. 

Amitabh Bachchan, dressed in a black bandhgala suit, said that he felt privileged to be a part of this heartwarming gesture and even joked in his trademark style that it wouldn’t have been possible without the persuasive powers of Suhasini Maniratnam to be apart of the show. 

The latter was charming as the compere for the evening too. The event also witnessed a Raja Ravi Varma inspired fashion show. Celebrities like Lissy, Krithika Subramanian, Kushboo, Vani Ganapathi, Lakshmi Manchu, Gopika Varma, Jayashri and Priyadarshini Govind were seen walking the ramp. 

Art was brought to life as these beautiful women, clad in gorgeous, colourful sarees by ace designer Neeta Lulla and accompanied by the melodious voice of Bombay Jayashri, portrayed the lives of the strong women in the paintings.
