The JJ Nagar police arrested a tipper lorry lifting gang member and recovered a tempo traveller that the gang had stolen from JJ Nagar
Chennai
Police said Vignesh (23), a native of Sirkazhi, has been one of the kingpins in the racket that was traced to places like Trichy and Kerala.
Police said the close associate and leader of the gang Mukesh (27), a native of Kerala and an expert in forging RC books, and Raja, a native of Trichy are yet to be arrested. Vignesh, during interrogation, has confessed to have lifted 10 tipper lorries from different areas in Chennai and sold them in Trichy using forged RC books.
Police said it was Mukesh who lured Vignesh to this racket after they became friendly at Puzhal prison. Vignesh then met Mukesh, a notorious vehicle lifter at Puzhal and they decided to work together. The duo then lifted tipper lorries from areas like Madhavaram, Vyasarpadi and JJ Nagar.
“They took the help of Raja to forge RC books and sold these tipper lorries in Trichy. Raja has been involved in similar crimes and have a big network in Trichy,” the official added.
