“A malicious campaign is being carried on by some persons in a well-planned manner.  This is deplorable, “he said in a statement.

When a new medical college was to be started the Indian Medical Council would inspect the facility and provide a report to the Health Mnistry which would take a decision.

While starting Indian medicine colleges such as Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, the Central committee on Indian Medicine and the Homeopathy Medical College Central committee in case of homeopathy would submit a report to the Ministry.

For naturopathy and yoga, the Central government had not created any relevant body. Therefore, the Central government had no role to play in recognising these bodies.

“Founders of the college can get a no-objection certificate from the Government of Tamil Nadu and shall apply to the Dr. MGR Medical University for affiliation, and medical college authorities will conduct an inspection and give a report. On the basis of the report the university will take decision, “he said.

“A few leaders are alleging that I provided the recognition and the media are also publishing the news without corroborating the facts,” he lamented.
