DMK will be routed again: AIADMK
A day after DMK chief Karunanidhi’s statement on alliance for coming polls, the ruling AIADMK on Wednesday criticised the rival leader and said his party has failed to bounce back from repeated electoral defeats since 2011, even though a number of parties were there in the DMK alliance.

AIADMK said that its arch rival will face yet another rout in the hustings. “DMK lost the Opposition Party status in the Assembly in 2011, when AIADMK won, and was defeated squarely in the local body polls. Further, it drew a blank in all bye-elections and 2014 Lok Sabha polls,” AIADMK mouthpiece, ‘Dr Namathu MGR,’ said in a stinging article.
Hitting out at Karunanidhi’s recent statement that he would welcome any number of constituents to the DMK-led alliance in a bid to form a formidable coalition against the AIADMK, it said that people would never give their support to that front. Making an apparent reference to Karunanidhi’s invitation to Vijayakant-led DMDK, the mouthpiece said that the DMK chief and his allies would be “routed for sure” in the coming polls and that AIADMK would once again wrest control.
Commenting on forming an alliance, Karunanidhi had said, “We will not say no to parties willing to come (into DMK-led) alliance. We will welcome any party which will ensure democracy’s victory”.
The ruling party also slammed Karunanidhi for his party’s stand over the ‘jallikattu’ issue, saying the bull-taming sport was banned by the UPA government in 2011 when DMK was a key constituent in the coalition, and questioned his criticism of the AIADMK government on the matter.
Democracy to be DMK’s slogan: MK
“The DMK campaign’s focus will be on ‘democracy’ in the upcoming election, DMK leader M Karunanidhi said. Karunanidhi, who returned to Chennai on Wednesday after his visit to this home constituency Tiruvarur, refused to comment on the reports alleging money distribution to voters by the ruling party. Terming his trip toThiruvarur as victorious, the DMK leader said his party’s Chennai region secretaries will be holding a peace rally to mark the 47th death anniversary of party founder and former Chief Minister Annadurai in Chennai on February 3.
