    TN front ranking state, role model for other states: Rosaiah

    Lauding Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for the various initiatives taken by her to uplift the economically weaker sections of the society, Governor K Rosaiah today said Tamil Nadu was a front ranking state and has set itself as a model for other states to emulate.

    In his addressing to the people of the State through AIR and Doordarshan on the occasion of 67th Republic Day, Dr Rosaiah said supply of free sarees and dhoties, uniforms, bicycles to school students, goats, sheeps, fans, mixies, grinders at no cost to the poor and downtrodden deserve a special mention.

    Observing that the importance of accelerating the rate of growth was imperative for development of the nation, the Governor said, thanks to the initiatives taken by Tamil Nadu Government,  today the state ranks first in terms of number of registered  Micro, Small and Medium Projects.

    "It is heartening to note that in the year 2013-14, nearly 1,17,000 projects have been registered, accounting for more than 32 per cent of the total new MSME units promoted all over India", he added.

    "This has also gone up further to 1,43,000 in the year 2014-15", Dr Rosaiah said, adding, promotion of economic growth, development of infrastructure were imperative.
     
    "It is a matter of great pride that ASSOCHAM Report, February 2015 has rated Tamil Nadu as the best performing state. Tamil Nadu Government?s initiative to improve the investment climate in the State deserves a special mention", he said.
