Citing media reports about an alleged scam in the Anna University recruitment process, DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi on Sunday demanded for a free and fair re-recruitment drive.

In a statement, the DMK Chief said, “The University’s notification for recruiting 112 assistant professors, 178 associate professors and 102 professors was published early in 2015.” The last date for submission was mentioned as July 31 2015.

“After six months of indolence, the university suddenly announced on January 18 that written examination for Assistant Professors would be conducted on January 23 and 24 and that results will be announced on the same day”.

Karunanidhi has raised doubts over randomness of the recruitment process. “The entire process is just an eye wash, as the authorities including the Vice Chancellor and the Minister for Higher Education have already decided on the candidates for the posts,” he alleged.

Karunanidhi has questioned the hasty steps being taken by the Anna University administration even as several cases in connection with its alleged irregularities are pending in the Madras High Court. “How is it possible to announce the results of several thousand candidates in a day?” he asked.

The DMK leader urged that the exams should be postponed and conducted in a free, fair and relaxed manner. He sought for a recruitment process with a violation-free reservation policy.
