All poll promises made by party have been kept: Jayalalithaa

Replying to the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address in the State Assembly, she said people were determined for a change during the 2011 Assembly polls and they voted the AIADMK to power. “We have fulfilled the aspirations of the people, who had voted for a change in 2011,” she added. 

Considering the various welfare measures launched by her regime since May 2011 till now, the people were now thinking that this government should continue (after the Assembly elections). Reiterating that she was for the people of the state and their welfare, Ms Jayalalithaa also said that her government was also for the people.

“What I wish to point out is that our activities and our schemes are for the people. We don’t have any selfish motive. We only have public and people’s welfare in mind,” she added. Asserting that AIADMK was the real people’s movement, Ms Jayalalithaa said it has dedicated itself for the people. 

“It has a leader who has dedicated herself for thepeople. The party will function forever for the welfare of Tamils,” she said. “Even after me, even after several centuries, the AIADMK will function for the welfare of the people,” she added. 

Listing out her government’s achievements on various spheres, the Chief Minister said 36 full days were needed for her to reply at length about the achievements made by her government in 36 departments in the last five years. Refuting the charges made by the Opposition parties against her government, she said all the promises made in the 2011 poll manifesto were fulfilled. 

“There are 36 departments and we have made so many achievements in each and every section. Each department requires a day. If we have to list out all the achievements, I have to take 36 days to finish my reply,” she said.
