Vanathi Pathippakam Thirunavukkarasu passes away
Veteran publisher and Founder of Vanathi Pathippakam, Y Thirunavukkarasu died here early on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 88. Family sources said his end came at around 1 am at his residence. The funeral took place in the evening

Vanathi Pathippgam was one of the oldest printers and publishers in the city. In 1955 he established the publishing house and called it Vanathi, after the character in Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan. One of the most popular of Vanathi’s publications is Paramacharya’s Deivathin Kural.Â
It has run into 27 editions since it was first published in 1976. The other popular titles published by him include Mukkur Lakshmi Narasimhachariar’s Kurai Ondrum Illai and Kannadasan’s Arthamulla Indu Madam.
Attired in a white khadi shirt and dhoti, the publishing veteran reportedly went to office almost every day till he could, even proof read and edited copies himself. He read every book that the publishing house brought out.
