    The Maker Summit at this year’s Shaastra, IIT Madras’ annual technical event, will provide a platform for young talent to interact with the most creative minds from across the country.

    The IIT-Madras annual technical festival Shaastra starts on January 23 and goes on till January 26 with lot of events for young minds. Maker Summit will be the flagship event for this edition of Shaastra aimed at giving students a stage to learn and give them an experience of working with the most creative minds from across the country over a period of 4 days. 

    The lectures at the Maker Summit give participants a great chance to hear from the experienced and learn from the best. Some of the world renowned speakers set to grace Shaastra this year include Dr.Kamlesh Lulla, Director of University Research, Collaboration and Partnership office at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC), and one of the top 5 scientists of Indian Origin at NASA, Udaya Kumar Dharmalingam, the designer of the new Indian Rupee symbol and Dr.Suranga Nanayakkara, one of the Innovators under 35 for Asia Pacific Region.  

    This year, a team of 5 members headed by Yohan Triboulat from France will take part in Shaastra to perform an “ultrasporting” show. This 30-minute show is set to be a breath-taking display of balance and agility as the team manoeuvres the bike and body over custom built ramps & obstacles displaying the skills. 

    Another interesting event will be the workshop on 3D printing, which offers participants a chance to learn this unique skill to bring their designs alive. With prizes worth over Rs 25 lakh at stake, Shaastra 2016 promises to surpass all its previous editions.
