Couple killed in fire in Chennai
A couple was killed when a fire broke out in their residence in Nanganallur area in the city this morning.

Police said the mishap took place at the house of Venkataramani (45) who was living with with his wife Sowmya (40) and a relative Chandra (45).
The trio were sleeping in the living room, while the couple's children Vijayalakshmi (17) and Chandrashekar (14) were sleeping in the bedroom.
As smoke engulfed the house, the children woke up from their slumber and raised an alarm throuhg the window.
As the entire house was engulfed in thick smoke, fire and rescue personnel, on being alerted by the neighbours, rushed to the spot, but they could only retrieve the bodies of Venkataramani and Sowmya.
While the children had a narrow escape, Chandra was admitted to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital with burn injuries.
