Jipmer dept gets ISO 9001 certification
Department of Surgical Gastroenterology in Centrally sponsored JIPMER here has bagged the ISO 9001 certification in recognition of its best systems and practices to provide quality treatment to poor patients on par with international standards.

Department Head Dr Biju Pottakkat said in a release that it had been in the forefront of ensuring best systems and practices and treatment had been provided for all complicated surgical problems affecting the abdomen.
The department performs surgeries for liver complications and also pancreas, esophagus and large bowel surgeries.
He said advanced laprascopic surgeries, including surgery for obesity, are also performed in the department at a very nominal cost.
JIPMER would soon introduce 'liver transplantation' facility, he said.
Director of JIPMER Dr S C Parija said the certification is testimony to the high standard of patient care adopted in JIPMER and researches carried out in the institution.
It had also busted the misconception that public sector hospitals would not be able to provide high treatment standards for the satisfaction of patients.
