CM inaugurates medical facilities worth Rs 57.32 cr
The Chief Minister also handed over Siddha pack to pregnant women to ensure pre and postnatal care

In a major fillip to the health department, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday inaugurated a slew of facilities constructed at a total cost of Rs 57.32 crore through video conferencing from the Secretariat. Keeping her promise of providing a Siddha (herbal medicine) pack, containing 11 herbs, for ensuring proper care during pregnancy and after for pregnant women, the Chief Minister handed over the Amma Pregnancy Sanjeevi packets to five women. The scheme would cost the exchequer Rs 10 crore.
Jayalalithaa declared open the fourth and fifth floors of the silver jubilee guest house, auditorium and administrative buildings of Dr MGR Medical University complex at a cost of Rs 15.16 crore. She also inaugurated new canteen and hostels for male and female students of the Salem Kumaramangalam govt medical college hospital at a cost of Rs 90 lakh, besides the trauma section at Thanjavur govt medical college, women’s hostel at Coimbatore govt medical college hospital and the direct pipeline to carry water from the Tamirabarani river to Tirunelveli medical college.
