Special trains to clear festive traffic
Southern Railway will operate a superfast special train between Chennai and Kolkata, apart from five other special trains, to clear the extra rush of traffic during the Pongal season

A superfast special train between Chennai Central and Kolkata Howrah will be operated on Sunday in order to clear the extra rush of traffic.
The statement from Southern Railway said, “Train No.06164 Chennai Central – Howrah superfast special train will leave Chennai Central at 5.20pm on Sunday and reach Howrah at 10.45pm on the next day, Monday.”
The superfast special train will have stoppages at Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Cuttack, Bhadrak and Kharagpur. The note also said, the advance reservations for the special train are open.
Another statement from SR said, “A Suvidha superfast special train between Chennai Central and Ernakulam on January 22, a superfast special train between Ernakulam and Chennai on January 24, and three more special trains from Puducherry to Coimbatore on January 16, Coimbatore to Chennai Egmore on January 17, and Kochuveli to Mangalore on January 16, will be on run to accommodate extra rush of passengers.” The note from zonal railways also quoted, “The advance reservations for these special trains will commence on January 10 (Sunday).”
