    Tamil Nadu received 53 per cent more than average rain in 2015: MET

    Tamil Nadu received 53 per cent more rains so far this Northeast Monsoon with Chennai recording 104 per cent more rains than the normal.

    S.R. Ramanan, director of the Area Cyclone Warning Centre at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, said that between October 1 and December 31, Tamil Nadu received 67.33 cms of rain registering 53 per cent more rainfall, whereas the normal rain during the period is 43.95 cms. 

    Chennai received 160.86 cms of rain as against the normal of 78.83 cms, an increase of 104 per cent above normal. As far as the monthly rainfall is concerned, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry received bountiful rain during November (125 percent above normal), and in December, even though the state witnessed rains largely in the initial weeks, it was 76 per cent above normal.
