Chief Minister’s fund receives Rs 25 crore in single day
AIADMK lawmakers, ministers and corporate heads contributed more than Rs. 25 crore towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund

A total sum of Rs. 195.43 crore has so far been contributed to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) for the state government’s rain relief efforts, with the donations on Tuesday alone amounting to Rs 25 crore. AIADMK parliamentarians, including Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha M Thambidurai, handed over their one month’s salary of Rs. 24.50 lakh to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat in Chennai on Tuesday, an official release said.
Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal and senior ministers, including O Panneerselvam and AIADMK lawmakers contributed Rs. 75.36 lakh towards the fund, it said. CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services, N Chandrasekaran, donated Rs. 10 crore while Executive Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd Dr Preetha Reddy, and Sundaram Fasteners CMD Suresh Krishna contributed Rs. 3 crore each, it said.
The New India Assurance Co CMD G Srinivasan presented Rs. 3 crore, while IOCL and CPCL contributed a total sum of Rs. 4.77 crore including a day’s salary of their employees. Director of Malai Murasu , R Kannan Adithan, gave Rs. one crore, the release said.
The Chief Minister, on Wednesday, also laid the foundation stone for construction of training centres, student hostels, scientific laboratories, and libraries at a total cost of Rs 401.14 crore across the State. She also laid the foundation stone for the construction of 231 school buildings in various districts, an official release said. As part of helping 10th and 12th standard students in various government schools at Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur and Cuddalore districts, which were severely affected by the recent floods, Jayalalithaa handed over guides to five students as a symbolic gesture at a function in the Secretariat. The initiative would help 2.21 lakh students of the flood affected districts.
