Partial relief for Simbu

A case filed against the actor reportedly on behalf of the PMK in the Saidapet metropolitan Magistrate, has been withdrawn unexpectedly. The petitioner named Venkatesh withdrew the petition stating that his party High Command had instructed him to do so. 

However, it may be noted that the Madras High Court on December 29 had refused to grant Simbu an interim stay on police summons and interim anticipatory bail. Justice B Rajendran who heard the anticipatory bail plea, however asked the Coimbatore police to extend the date for his personal appearance for inquiry from January 2 to January 5. The case had been adjourned to January 4 for further hearing, when the court reopens after the Christmas-New Year vacation.
