Don’t pilfer lake water: Public Works Department
In a bid to ensure that water shortage doesn’t follow the floods, PWD (Water Resource Department) is in the process of monitoring all water bodies
Chennai
Lakes in the city are brimming and regular inspections are being carried out to check for breaches. However, a new concern for the PWD officials is to ensure that this water is conserved for use through the year. Sources said that officials have warned general public and industries not to draw water from any lakes by using large pipes and intake wells.
“It is high time that every single drop needs to be stored and we are monitoring all the water-bodies round-the-clock. As of now, there is no breach in any lake,” said an engineer requesting anonymity. He also added that a separate team has been formulated to keep a vigil on all the facilities.
