The accused identified as Selvam (48) is a resident of Bhaktavatchalam Colony in Vyasarpadi. A couple of years ago he was caught with 500 Kgs of red sanders and later was released on bail. Following this, the department suspended him from service. Meanwhile, two days ago a special team from Cudappah picked up one Kapoor of Vyasarpadi in connection with red sander racket. During interrogation, Kapoor told cops that he was working for one Selvam of Vyasarpadi, who was a key player in the smuggling. Acting on this information, a 10-member police team from Cudappah landed in the city. Soon after, they stormed into the house and arrested Selvam. Further investigation is on.
