Cadres of the All India Democratic Women’s association (AIDWA) and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) agitated in front of Simbu’s T-Nagar residence located in Masilamani Street. About 150 members of AIDWA-DIFY gathered in front of the actor’s residence in Chennai, where police was already posted. The agitators demanded that the actor be taken into police custody. Students of Madras University also protested in front of the actor’s house. Some of them burned his pictures. The demonstrators said they would continue their protests until the actor is arrested.

The Chennai cybercrime police are investigating whether actor Simbu and music director Anirudh are responsible for the Beep Song which allegedly denigrates women and enraged women’s groups across TN.

The song which went viral on You Tube and WhatsApp drew the ire of the Coimbatore police who registered a case based on complaints and issued summons to due to appear before them for further investigations on December 19.

However, sources reveal that both may not appear in person and that their lawyers might do the needful. With agitations becoming more vociferous police presence has been increased in both their houses at T Nagar (Simbu) and RA Puram (Anirudh). Both are not in Chennai at present while the mobile phones of their family members have been switched off.

Meanwhile the Chennai police commissioner’s office received three complaints demanding action against the duo based on which they are planning to register cases against the duo. A top police official said action had been initiated to check whether the voice in the song was that of Simbu. A case would be registered if it was concerned, he added.
