    International flight operations from the airport here resumed on Monday five days after incessant rains and floods forced shutdown of operations

    After days of suspension of International flights from the Chennai Airport due to flooding of runway, the operation of flights commenced from 0600 Hours on Monday. Night Operations also continued.

    The domestic flights that arrived at the airport, after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have given nod for operation of day and night operations from Monday included, TRJ 201, Trujet from Shamshabad to Chennai at 0830 hrs, AIC 1546, Air India from Shamshabad to Chennai at 0901 Hrs, TRJ202 Trujet from Chennai to Shamshabad Airport departed at 0910 Hrs, AX868, Express India from Singapore to Chennai arriving at 1000 Hrs and JAI350, Jet Air from Mumbai to Chennai at 1010 Hrs.

    Meanwhile, to further notify its passengers IndiGo will resume scheduled operations to and from Chennai from Tuesday. IndiGo will operate 26 flights connecting Chennai with Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Trivandrum and Bangalore with multiple services.

    IndiGo assured that all passengers with confirmed tickets to and from Chennai till December 15, 2015 will be given 100 per cent refund and will also waive off the charges against the booking required changes to the alternate date.

    The leadership is diligently monitoring the situation and is liaising with the local authorities, including the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to ensure all required protocols are followed for the resumption of flight operations, an IndiGo statement here today.

    With relentless support extended by its staff in Chennai and local partners, IndiGo has carried over 600 stranded passengers from Arrakkonam Rajali INS Naval Air Base which is a make-shift Airport for commercial flights. The staff is ensuring to coordinate with the local airport staff to help passengers fly safe till further notice, the statement added.

    Low pressure moves away from Andhra Pradesh

    The low pressure area over Cape Camorin area and its neighbourhood has moved away.

    The trough of low pressure on sea level chart over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamilnadu coast persists.

    Light to moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at isolated places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. The weather report further added that dry weather would prevail over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 24 hours.

    The Met Office here on Monday issued a warning that Heavy rain may occur at isolated places in Nellore district of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Chittoor district of Rayalaseema over next 48 hours.
